Fun with Friends

I hosted a meet here on Friday and had a just lovely time :D A couple of shots from the day...

On Friday night we drove to Toowoomba to pick up our NEW CAR!!11!! We went with the Kia Grand Carnival (06 model) to fit all our kids and the wheelchair in it. Now we don't need to take two cars when we go grocery shopping - lol! It's awesome! (though the drive back with a stubborn-ly not sleeping babe who cried most of the way was definitely NOT awesome).

I'll snap some pics today and post em soon.

Today, we are off to the beach :D

First, the pants. Now, dresses!!!

I am clearly on some kind of sewing and crafty roll, as I've made two whole dresses!!

The lovely neek came over to give me a hand with Snail and learn me up on how to sew stuff some more - lol. M and Riley were also here to lend moral support. :D I made these!!

A peasant dress:

A pillowcase dress! I need a thicker ribbon for the neck, and to tack it in so the gathering is regular.

Both only just fit round the chubster's tummy, though - I'll go up a size in future. Though I'm hoping once the tummy chubb thins out, they'll be perfect for a while longer....

Doings...

We have been busy, we went to the pool for a swim last week...'Sploring in the playground.

We vaccumed in the nude!

We went op shopping (and got some plastic animals to play with) -

And DinnerDad sold his car, he is getting my car, and we are buying a 7 or 8 seater to fit all our kids and the wheelchair!

Busy busy busy, and more on this week, too! :)

I made pants!!

A friend of mine is an amazing sewer, check out her beautiful things here. She came round to help me learn to sew :D I made a pair of pants for Lolly that are super cute!

But...I made another pair today (unsupervised - lol) and they are about half an inch too small!!!! I am so bummed. But they are cute, and I'm keeping em in case Lolly ever slims down. :)

ETA - here is my third pair - they fit pretty well! It's a thicker material, I think that gave me some trouble - lol.

More beach fun!

We loved the beach at Scarborough so much that we went back with Smash and Snail last week for another go. The beach itself is a little lackluster, but the paths and playground is ace!

Here is the Lollster rocking the trike with her brother on the scooter.

Lolly and Nanna - OMG it's Nanna!!!111!!

Made it to the top of the hill with a little help from Nanna and Pop!

Snail on the beach.

Smash, Lolly and Nanna on the beach.

More stunts, look at that air!

Garden fun

Our vege garden needed some work, so we had a garden day this week. Here is our day in photos.

We got a compost bin!

Lolly on her pink (!!!!!) trike.

Snail watching.

Beautiful girl.

Smash saying "now what!"

Overgrown down near the shed. Our curry tree and aloe vera :)

DinnerDad attacked the overgrown bush the was blocking our view of the valley over the last couple of weeks (that roof is our garage).

Here it is last August (it had gotten even bigger since then!)

And now!

We always let our toddler push the chair lol.

Selene takes on the homemaker blogs!!

A dear friend sent me some ALARMING links to some of the cleanest, neatest, best decorated homes in the UNIVERSE yesterday, complete with beautiful crafting, children's activities, and shiny happy kids :) Here is the worst of them, click if you dare!

So I thought I'd do a photo essay of my own on my own slightly less that fantabulous home, lol, just so the interwebs knows that not all of us are perfect.

Here is my messy lounge room and our enormous television, on which my toddler is watching TV while I mess about on the computer. Also note the crappy curtains and dirty carpet, and the uninspired light fitting.

Here is my computer. Sure, there's a picture on the wall, but I didn't paint it, and we'd lived here for three years before we got around to hanging it. Note the lack of designer furniture. Yes, that is one of our dining room chairs... If you look closely you'll see our careful child proofing in the form of a stuffed toy tied to the dangerous corner of the glass desk. It has fallen off.

Here is my toddler, still in her PJs. By PJs I mean a regular shirt and no pants. Note the dread-y hair and general unkempt appearance. The close observer may notice the stain in the right corner of the carpet where one of our dogs peed the night before. Don't fret if you can't, the stains are numerous.

Take that, perfect homemaker blogs!!!

Going to the beach!

Lolly made it to 21 months old before going to the beach, despite living in Brisbane. On the Monday after xmas, we went to Scarborough with my parents and sister. It was such a lovely day!

Here is Lolly on the beach for the first time, hiding in my skirt.

Dadda made some reassuring booby sand castles.

I guess the beach is okay after all!

Watching Auntie Julz, Pop and Dadda play footy and looking cool.

Watching the kite surfers from the headland.

The playground!!

After fish and chips for dinner, we went wave jumping at twilight. Here is DinnerDad and Lolly.

With Nanna.

Lolly cried most of the way home, but it was worth it :)
